STORAGE MANAGEMENT INITIATIVE SPECIFICATION (SMI-S) AS A BASIC STANDARD OF THE CONTEMPORARY DATA STORAGE MANAGEMENT
Summary
The SMI-S standard, to a great extent, covers the issues concerning data storage management. In the paper, the most important versions of the standard were described (including version 1.0.3 approved as the ISO/IEC 24775:2007 standard), as well as its constituting parts, used elements of the WBEM (Web-Based Enterprise Management) specification, especially the object model of information CIM (Common Information Model); the definitions of profiles and subprofiles, also the meaning of SMI-S for the contemporary data storage management has been explained.
