SOVEREIGN WEALTH FUNDS AND CAPITAL FLOWS' LIBERALIZATION
Summary
Sovereign wealth funds are old solution when it comes to their very concept and new when considering their form. Their purpose is assistance by states' budgetary-investment policies. Increasing assets under their managament and search for new markets they can invest on gave birth to circumstances in which facilities of investing and receiving such investments became important. Such facilities can be created via bilateral, multilateral or global treaties. Specific regional blocs' solutions (with special consideration of European Union) are briefly described as well. It should be remembered that sovereign wealth funds can be used as economic weapon (tool used to impose one state's will on another). Criteria for sovereign wealth funds differ too when it comes to transparency for capital feeder (the client) and investment receiver.
